The book of festive hymns for public worship, published in Bern in 1814, forms the basis of the paper artwork “Ignifuge d’hymnes”. The “fireproof hymns”, a camouflage cape from church books, is part of the witch trial series, and was presented at various venues in Valais, Switzerland, over the spring 2024. About 500 years ago, this area was the scene of the first persecutions. At that time, belief in the devil and fear of witches permeated the consciousness of all classes of the population.
